This book contains three parts -first is an autobiography of Helen Keller followed by her letters and ends with the supplementary note to her entire life by John Albert Macy with the help from Miss.Sullivan. The book is dedicated by Helen Keller to Alexander Graham Bell.
Helen Keller life is an achievement and a lesson of inspiration to many. She tries to explain her entire life right from her little age naughtiness and pranks. She explains how her parents never gave up on her, how her teacher (Miss.Sullivan) made the impossible possible by teaching Helen Keller and made her to read, write, talk, go to college and graduate. She talks about her little sister, mother and all her friends. She speaks about her likes and dislikes, her hobbies, the most painful moment of her life and also her happy times which involved lot of travelling.
The book explains the determination of Helen Keller and the amazing hard work, patience, trust and belief Miss. Sullivan had on her. Miss Sullivan had sacrificed her entire life for the sake of Helen Keller and yet stood back stage allowing Helen Keller to feel and accept the world's attention.
The collection of letters explains us the improvement Helen Keller achieved in her language and writing skills. The usage of words, the metaphors and adjectives she uses to define each and every thing and occasion in the book makes us realize that we have missed most of nature's everyday miracles happening around us. She makes us to look at the world with new eyes. Anyone who reads the book without knowing the disabilities of Helen Keller would never be able to accept the fact that she was both blind and deaf.
Story of my life - An inspiration to all.
