Sivagamiyin sabadham

The book comprising of 4 volumes written by Kalki krishnamoorthy in the year 1946 with 12 years of hard work is a must read for every Tamilian. It is not just the story of the Pallava kings, the fictional romance which has spiced up the whole story, the great insights of various archaeological structures and the beautiful nail biting twists - it is the way the book is written made me a great fan of kalki. May it be a morning sunrise, an evening sunset, a beautiful garden, lake/sea or ocean, nature gets life in his words. The way he describes each scene makes us look the world around us with new eyes.

His words are narrative in nature. It is like sitting a watching a good long drama. The protagonist is Sivagami - a girl. Though Kalki uses phrases and words which are used in a man's world that suppresses women, he uses it in such a way that it the meaning actually makes the women superior. When we sit back and think for a second we will feel, 'OMG this girl is just wow'.

As saandilyan said a person needs strength in his hand and heart to put in so much hard work and write an epic like this. Kalki - one word - wow. One request - try to read it in Tamil itself to enjoy the beauty and essence of the language.

Score: 4.5/5
