Parthiban Kanavu

The book written by Kalki Krishnammorthy in the year 1941. Though this book was written before Sivagamiyin Sabadam, it is actually a sequel to SS and thus one will find it more interesting and understandable if it is read after SS.

Parthiban Kanavu can be called as a kid's novel. It has more twists and interesting outcomes but after a point the major twist which is held till the end is actually predictable. The smallest story of the trilogy (SS, PK and Pnniyin Selvan) which is the PK has 3 volumes  (on total around 200 pages). I personally felt this was more interesting than SS.

The narrative style, the beautiful description of the scenario and the emphasis on the nature is taken care by Kalki similar to that in SS. This story is about the Chola King. I'm sure people will feel horipulated when they read the Parthiban's battle and much more did that disabled king (forgot his name) who fought the Pandiyas in a losing battle at his old age when there was no elephant, horse or chariot to travel just by sitting on 2 Chola warriors.

Not just Kundavai but anyone will fall in love with Vikrama Cholan for his looks, bravery and persistence. Parthiban Kanavu - simple and page turning

Score: 4.3 /5
